Sandisk Skyrocketed with Affordable SD cards sales

With the continuous and stiff battle in memory devices, memory card makers are struggling to top one another and as much as possible take an inch from their competitors.
But there is always someone who goes a step ahead of the game. Sandisk, a leading chip maker, reported gained a surprising increase on their second and third quarter sales. Despite the reports of decline in sales percentage of some tech makers and sellers, the global leader in memory storage was able to beat the heat and got a 43% increase in revenue which sums up to $ 1.48 billion.
But Sandisk's third quarter results were even more surprising as they were able to rake profits of $277 million, to $1.18 a share, on revenue of $1.68 billion. The results even surprised analyst as they did not expect the company to exceed their projections for 2013. And what's more surprising is that, Sandisk earned better and way ahead from well-known companies in Silicon Valley, beating out Yahoo and others.
One analyst from Bloomberg said that the increase might be a result of the better price tags that Sandisk put to their line of products. But that fact is not surprising at all. Sandisk is known to produce quality but affordable SD cards and flash drive. The Milpitas-chip maker is also known for their fruitful collaborations with different tech companies like Toshiba and Intel, and gets hold of acquisitions such as their pending acquisitions of Smart Storage Systems.
2014 Plans
Most likely, it will continue to gain solid investments in 2014 and they are confident that they can achieve the same results for the next year. But they are also planning of expanding their investments to making UltraDIMM solid-state drive (SSD), a new product category aimed to achieve high-performance for the computing market. The product is said to enable low latency and provide higher storage densities per server for high performance computing applications. In fact, the company is starting early, shipping samples of enterprise-grade UltraDIMM. Its management is positive about this and their SSD revenue growth to exceed their 2013 product metrics.
In 2014, it will be the platinum sponsor for the 13th Annual Storage Visions Conference in Las Vegas. The theme of the conference centers will be "Fast is Beautiful, but Size Matters". Conference organizers were grateful for the support that the global chip maker is giving them. As conference organizer Tom Coughlin said, “We are pleased to have SanDisk back at the 2014 Storage Visions Conference. Flash memory has become a critical component in enterprise applications and is the basis for most mobile device storage. The 2014 Storage Visions Conference is honored to have them participate.” The conference will be on January 4 & 5.
It is most likely that Sandisk will give the attendees a general idea of their 2014 financial and product roadmap. At the moment, many are speculating on what the company will offer their target audience and who will be the lucky company they will pick to collaborate with and what acquisitions they are planning to acquire for the next year.
